Spiderbait <--WHEW!
Regina Spektor - just because she's awesome and everyone in the world should listen to her songs at least once in their lifetime.
For some smooth jazz try Miles Davis, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Michael Manring and Herbie Hancock. <--WHEW!
Coheed and Cambria for a bit o' nerdy punk/emo <--WHEW!
Ben Folds because he's awesome <---- WHEW!
The Jesus and Mary Chain
you could go oldschool and get some Primitive Radio Gods or The Beta Band
and of course anything by the Dandy Warhols.
Some more to add would be some more Aussie bands - The Butterfly Effect, Cog, Karnivool, Birds of Tokyo, Dead Letter Circus, Eddie Current Suppression Ring. They are some of my favourites.

That should be a good cross section of music taste right?

edit: I'm so glad you liked The Go Team! They're one of my favourite bands!

On a side note Cytheypoo, metal is not "badass". Unless they are out slaying ogres or raiding villages it it no more badass then rappers who lie about drug dealing.

On a further sidenote Lupe Fiasco is jams. As is Blind Guardian. Varied musical taste is ago!

You're UNBELIEVABLY stupid, and narrow minded. I imagine your favourite music is the same regurgitated trash they play on the radio.

To original OP, I would recommend listening to these albums:

The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place - Explosions in the Sky
Young Mountain - This Will Destroy You

Both albums are very easily accessible and pretty much difficult to pigeon-hole to a specific genre (I guess it's instrumental rock/post-rock) due to their lack of vocals and more progressive strong structure.

Godspeed is simply one of the best musical groups I have ever heard, along with A Silver Mt. Zion. However I didn't list it because it's not very accessible to the majority of people due to their extended songs and focus on exploring the boundaries of musical dynamics and textures rather than trying to create a catchy tune.

If you love post rock you should also check
God is an astronaut- all is violent, all is bright
Mogwai-Mr.Beast
tortoise-TNT
and if you like classical pieces like GY!BE you should check worrytrain, it's not post rock(rather classical/ambient) but I find it to have a very similar sound

I'd add Mogwai's 'Mogwai Young Team' and Tortoise's 'Millions now Living Will Never Die' to that list as well. Mono's 'You Are There' is pretty amazing too.

Meh anyone who thinks any genre of music is superior to another is an idiot. I generally like anything (except rap, some popish stuff, and some country, amoung others). Hell I have even enjoyed several fully orchestral musics (Metal Gear Solid soundtrack <3!).

I concur. Music is there in all shapes and forms to be enjoyed by various people. Please stop arguing over which is "better" or more "true" as it is an individual decision. Personally I enjoy almost all music. I respect it for what the artist is trying to put across and the way they develop there songs accordingly.

My style varies from Porno-Grind to Techno..

Just have fun with it in my opinion.
